Bryngarw Park Round House

With the Bushwaka event coming up on 13th April, it’s time to get our round house in order.

We’ve managed to weave most of the walls from hazel cut from around the park. We also worked hard in the December event collecting the soil from mole hills to cover the roof. It’s wonderful to see some of the bulbs that Jen planted are starting to appear. (if you’re tall enough)

I had a few hours spare and the weather was fine, so had a wonderful couple of hours cutting some hazel from the coppice area.

I even treated myself to a delicious toasted sandwich & cuppa from Cedars and enjoyed that sat in the round house trying to photograph the robin that visited the feeder.

I’m no wildlife photographer, and he was too quick for me.

Bryngarw Park – Round House Roof

Saturday 15th December 2012

The last volunteer event of the year coincided with the Victorian Christmas fayre.  Despite the earlier showers, the rain held off for the day, but the molehills were a little damp and heavy.

We were using the earth from the molehills to cover the roof of the round house in preparation for some spring bulbs and possibly wild flower seed.  It was tough work filling the barrows with the soil, then flinging it up on to the roof.  Jen got on the roof with the rake to help spread it out evenly.

Keith did a grand job with the fire and his beef casserole was delicious, accompanied by Gill & Dave’s pepper mix, also Sean’s pork pies & stilton quiches were a big hit all washed down with mulled wine, or merry berry punch for the drivers.

It was a lovely event and another step closer to finishing the round house.

Merry Christmas, see you in the New Year
